Hello,

Is there any way in Abbyy to supress the format errors?

Let's say I have a field called 'NumberField'

I created a custom numeric data type(language neutral) and given the alphabets .0123456789 and assigned it to the data type of this 'NumberField', but for some reason when I enter a value like 1.234, I get a format error saying " The field value is not a number". The same field accepts values like 12.34 , so I'm not sure what the problem is.
I though custom data type is supposed to overcome this issue. I'm not writing to a file but exporting the values to SQL, so I wouldn't be able to use the 'Process value as text' option.

How to overcome this error / suppress the format error saying it's not a number?

Thanks!

I think your decimal separator regional configuration could be your problem, try to check if the period is a valid separator, you can change it in the bottom of the data tab.

You could change the field property to process value as text but you would have to use a export script in order to parse that text into whatever data type you are using.

I hope this helps
