Remote Verification Station vs normal Verification Station issues

What is it that causes an install to show up as "Remote" or not? I have not found anything in the documentation to show what causes this to be true.

I have an install of Verification Station that is showing up as a Remote install. There are 2 other installations in the same environment that were done, but neither of them are showing up as Remote. The install process was the same, so I am not sure why the one is being designated as "Remote".

Also, the documentation states that the Match Document Definition functionality is the same for both Remote and normal Verification Stations. This is not true. I am unable to make changes in this way to any batch from the Remote site, and if I try to do so it appears to "lock" the batch, so even if I try to make this change from the server it fails - the only way to fix it is to delete the entire batch and start over.

Hello,

The difference between the local and remote stations is that the remote Verification Station does not support background processes such as import, recognition and export. Thus operations which involve background processes are available in the local Verification Station only.
